Wiper linkage: How to replace plastic bushings and save money
Why does the linkage seize up?
The wiper mechanism is constantly exposed to water, dirt and road salt. Over time, the plastic hinge bushings wear out, water gets in there, and the metal pins begin to rust. As a result, it becomes difficult for the motor to turn the mechanism, and the wipers slow down.
Replacing the assembly or bushings?
A new linkage for a modern car costs from $100 to $300. But why change a pile of metal if the problem is only in small plastic connections? We have developed and print repair linkage bushings from impact-resistant nylon.
Installation features
To replace, you need to disassemble the linkage, clean the rust from the "pins", lubricate them (it is best to use silicone or lithium grease) and press in our new bushings (you can use a vise). After that, your wipers will work like new!
